WINTER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
We are looking for people who can act as hosts, man the gangways and meet and greet visitors and generally "mind" the ship during daytime and evening events in Bristol. Other duties would include offering guided tours of the ship and generally assisting in the running of on-board events.
The ship will also host educational visits for young people (under the supervision of their own leaders) so those able to tell a good yarn and explain matters nautical could use their skills - before brewing up for their clients.
OTHER [Summer] VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Balmoral's shop sells a range of clothing, books, souvenirs and sweets and is the responsibility of a highly experienced Shop Manager who is himself a volunteer. He organises the recruiting, training and rostering of the team of shop keepers and is always pleased to hear from people who would be interested in joining the team as and when vacancies arise.
Each winter, the ship returns to lay-up in Bristol for annual maintenance and improvements, and a team of ‘on-board’ volunteers sets to work, each Monday and Friday, on everything from simple (but vital!) husbandry such as cleaning and painting, to more complex projects such as engineering works and accommodation refits.
White Funnel Limited, the operating company for MV BALMORAL is based at 70 Prince Street, BRISTOL BS1 4QD - very close to Balmoral's winter berth. The small team based there would welcome offers of volunteer assistance - some indication of any particular skills or experience you can offer would be appreciated.
